Monument Valley

This is one of those places that just takes your breath away, so when driving this road you have to be alert for people stopping to take pictures.

Rock Springs Artists Den

There are some nice things for sale inside this business, jewelry, paintings and wood carvings as well as gems and minerals.
And they have a cute sign.
I got this rock in there.

Monkey Business #2

This one has been recently painted and is just up the road from the business I showed yesterday. This is carved from a tree trunk and invites customers in to this used car dealership.

Dusty II

This wonderful old antique horse cycle was at The Mill Restaurant in Crown King. I have never seen one like this before. What a lucky child to have had this to play with. It just needs a little dusting.

Dairy Farm

On the road to Stanton and Octave you pass the Parker Dairy Farm's faded cow sign.

This is the farm that can be seen from the look out point on Yarnell hill as seen in this picture on the left.
We haven't seen any cows there for quite a long time.

Doors

I like those door pulls on this door on the old Stanton Opera House, which I featured yesterday.
Below is another picture of the building from different angle.

Opera House

This is a wider view of the old Stanton Opera House. I featured these windows in my post yesterday. This building is now used as a recreation hall.

Stanton Old Town

To get to the old buildings in Stanton you have to enter the RV park camp ground and go to the office to sign a liability release. Then you are free to wander around the old buildings and take pictures. This is the sign at the entrance to the park.

Stanton House

This is one of only a few older houses that we saw in the Stanton area.

Rolling Cabin

It's unique, it has solar power and it's for sale! This is one of the first things we saw as we came into the tiny town of Stanton. The middle window is the one I did the close up of in my post yesterday.

Wednesday Window....Spicy

Although it looks a bit odd in this picture, this really is a window.
You will have to check back tomorrow to find out what kind of place this window is in.

Hotel Stanton

Continuing our visit to Stanton, this building is close to the office building that I featured in Friday's post. Now used as a library and game room for the RV park, this building has a sign that identifies it as the old hotel.

Stanton

Only a few miles from the Octave Mine that I featured yesterday is the tiny town of Stanton, Arizona. Once a bustling gold mining town, the old buildings are now surrounded by an RV park. If you go into the office and sign a release, you can wander around the old buildings and take pictures.

A few people asked how the Octave mine got it's name. The only thing I found on the name said that there were eight partners who owned the mine which is why they named it Octave.

Octave Mine

Just at the foot of Yarnell Hill is a gravel road that takes you to the Octave Mine.  There was once a town called Octave here but now there isn't much left of the old town.

There are several gold mines in this area and some are still being worked.
The Octave Mine was recently featured on the television show
"Ghost Mine". It seems the mine owner would like to get the crew that is working the mine in Baker, Oregon to come and work the Octave in the winter months.
